Ink-Spirational, a motivational adult coloring book, is a true collaborative effort between St. John’s College, High School and Autism Belize. It is our goal to promote mental health, creativity, and inclusion.
According to research studies, “Mothers of adolescents and adults with autism experience chronic stress comparable to combat soldiers and struggle with frequent fatigue and work interruptions. These moms also spend significantly more time care giving than moms of those without disabilities.”
But we know the last two years haven’t just been difficult on special needs parents and caregivers. No, as a community, we have all been struggling with high levels of stress. Even the SJC Community has been hit hard this year.
This is why we decided to partner with the SJC Art Department on Ink-Spirational. Coloring is no longer just for our kiddos. In fact, this year, some adult coloring books have even become best sellers! Mainly because coloring, we have learned, helps reduce stress and improve sleep and focus -something we all need right now. It is a wonderful way to relax and focus on your mental health.
Ink-Spirational is $15.00 for the coloring book or $20 with a pack of colored pencils. All proceeds from the sale of these coloring books will go towards the numerous Autism Belize projects to support special needs families and educate Belize about inclusion and acceptance..
I encourage you to take some time for yourself. Turn off all your electronic devices. Focus on the many motivational, kindness quotes throughout this book. Pick up some crayons or markers and indulge in your creative side.
